UW-Marinette College 4 Kids
offers Summer Theatre Camp
MARINETTE — Brittany Welch, Children’s Theatre Director, and the UW-Marinette Continuing Education Department will offer a two-week College 4 Kids Summer Camp from June 12 -23 Monday - Friday for those interested in learning the aspects of being part of a production in a real live theatre setting.
Participants ages 6-18 will learn theatre language, stage presence, costuming, set creation and more. At the end of the two-week session, Disney’s The Aristocats will be performed for the public at 1 pm on Friday, June 23 at UW-Marinette.
“This camp is a great opportunity for those who have an interest in theatre and be involved in the process of putting a show together in a low pressure setting,” said Welch. "We've had kids who had no theatre experience prior to the camp that have now been in multiple children's theatre productions! All experience levels are welcome!"
Director Brittany Welch is attending the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay majoring in Music Education with a minor in Theatre. Previous productions that she has directed include Dorothy in Wonderland and The Little Mermaid Jr. As a demonstration of her passion for theatre, she has also performed in many of Marinette’s Theatre on the Bay productions.
The two-week camp, held Monday - Friday from 9:30 am-3:30 pm at UW-Marinette Theatre Building, is $159 and includes all materials. Interested participants may register at www.marinette.uwc.ede/ce or call 715-735-4300, ext. 4342.
